Tickets both went on sale and sold out yesterday for the 5th Annual Women’s Conference sponsored by Maria Shriver, California First Lady.  Event announcements promise great things,  ”conference attendees can expect the same empowering experiences, fascinating speaker pairings, and once-in-a-lifetime conversations that have become the conference’s trademark under Shriver’s leadership.”.  The conference has an impressive lineup of speakers like Warren BuffetCondoleeza Rice, Bono, Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Steinem, et al.  There’s only one problem, you can’t get a ticket.  So Mrs. Arnold Schwarzenagger, I respectfully request that you add day two as an encore.  Although you can’t attend the main event, there are still two options for people interested in attending.  You can add your name to a waiting list or buy a $20 ticket to A Night at the Village, a separate event the evening before featuring guest speaker Rachel Ray.

Recently while waiting for an appointment, I read one of Cosmopolitan magazine’s famous lists about what men really want in a relationship, Why He Likes You.  Although Cosmo’s target audience is likely much younger than our Six Figure Moms Club husbands, the survey results seem omnigenerational.  When was the last time you read a Cosmo article and compared it to how you treat your hubby?  What if improving your relationship is that easy?  Below are just a few hints of what men enjoy from the survey but be sure to read the article.  You just might end up reconnecting with your spouse with very little effort.  They love us because:

hip hopSo, I bet you’re wondering what in the world could rap music have to do with life lessons for executive women?  Keep reading.  I was perusing Tony Robbins’ newsletter when I noticed a link to an appearance on MTV.  I thought, “Tony Robbins is going to take a shot at being a rapper now?  Come on!”.  Anyway, I was just curious enough to watch so I clicked through.  Seems that Hurricane Chris in his 51/50 Ratchet CD has some serious clarity about personal leadership.  The video from Hip Hop Owner’s Manual describes a rap music term, RATCHET. The definition of Ratchet is living your life’s dream and being yourself without regard for what anyone else thinks.  In Rapper speak, “Doing YOU”.  Ratchet comes with a few guiding principles:

It’s easy to find news covering the backstabbing, catty woman who will compete against their female counterparts to win at all costs.  But I wonder if this is really true or primarily continues to be written about just because it’s controversial and gets readers attention. Despite what we might read in the media, most of you are not saboteurs but actually just the opposite.  You can find women everywhere serving other women.  Each month, I’ll be posting about women who are helping other women around the world.  (Saboteurs, find your coverage elsewhere please…)

Business Week’s Working Parents Blog ran an post last week covering survey results that indicate “Working Women Want Money Not Balance”. I imagine reviewing the demographics of the women surveyed would reveal that these women aren’t Six Figure Moms. It may be true for some but I have issue with the suggestion that women must choose between one or the other. Most of the women I interview and coach are concerned with balance because they want a good mix of everything. We can’t have both balance AND money? I think we can. As a Six Figure Mom, you have an opportunity to use your resources to speak up and influence the change that’s occuring in our US workforce. Everyone wants more flexibility, telecommuting options and the option to choose whether they work 8-5 or 5-8. This is no longer an issue that only hits home with women but with everyone that’s ever got a taste of it and liked it.

Working MotherThroughout your career, employers have likely invested thousands in your professional development. Maybe you took personality profiling assessments like DISC or Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Although you thought this was important, some of you just wanted to get through it so you could get back to mastering your core job duties. Understandable, but now take a second look. You might just have a drawer full of insightful things to use in building your Best Life.
